The International Organization for Qumran Studies (IOQS) was founded in 1989 in Groningen, The Netherlands (Executive Secretary: Eibert Tigchelaar), and restructured in 2016. It connects scholars on the field of the Dead Sea Scrolls from all over the world and from any academic approach, methodology or purpose.

The IOQS Executive Committee consists of the President, a Secretary, and a Webpage Officer, as well as three at-large-members.

There are regular conferences every three years at different locations in Europe. The lectures of the meetings are edited in a volume and published in the series Studies on the Texts of the Desert of Judah.

Membership in the IOQS is obtained by presentation of a paper at one of the IOQS conferences or can be granted by the Executive Committee at request.
